Nikko Station Hotel Classic

The hotel was great value for money and is in a super convenient location. We wanted to be close to transport, arriving by the Tobu train line on our first day and departing from the JR train station at the end of our stay. The hotel was an easy walk between the two stations. Furthermore, the buses to Lake Chuzenji depart directly across the road from the hotel, outside the JR station. This was important for our early morning bus departure to the lake area. Staff were helpful and check in was smooth. Our room was huge by Japanese standards. We were allocated a corner room on the top floor which we loved as we were able to enjoy the lovely view of the mountains from two windows.

It's important to have some perspective when rating this property. If you spent the entirety of your trip staying at flagship Marriott/Hilton in major metropolitan areas, you're going to have a bad time if you compare this location to those properties. That being said, for what it is, it's terrific for exploring Nikko. Our favorite part was the location; it's right off the Tobu and JR stations. Furthermore, it's right next to the bus stop for the world heritage site and Lake Chuzenji, making it extremely easy to get around. The staff was very friendly and spoke excellent English. Additionally, the breakfast was much more than we anticipated it to be and was very tasty (still a continental breakfast though).

THE AMAZING AND DELICIOUS BREAKFAST. THE WONDERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL STAFF. EVERYONE GOES OUT OF THEIR WAY TO ASSIST YOU WITH YOUR NEEDS. ALWAYS WORKING TOWARDS EXCELLENCE. 😀😀😀😀😀 I ESPECIALLY WANT TO THANK MICO, (ONE OF THE BREAKFAST STAFF) I MENTIONED TO MICO THAT I MISSED THE MISO SOUP THEY USE TO SERVE FOR BREAKFAST. (THE HOTEL HAD CUT OUT SOME OF THEIR BREAKFAST FOOD AND THE MISO SOUP WAS ONE OF THEM). THE NEXT MORNING AND OUR LAST DAY IN NIKKO, WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO THE RESTAURANT TO EAT OUR USUAL BREAKFAST, I WAS SURPRISED WHEN MICO CAME TO OUR TABLE AND GAVE ME A PACKET OF MISO SOUP TO TRY. SHE TOLD ME TO PUT H0T WATER IN A CUP AND PUT IN SOME OF THE POWDER MISO. I DID AND IT WAS SO DELICIOUS. WHAT A TREAT!!! TO HAVE MY MISO SOUP ONCE MORE FOR BREAKFAST. 😀😀😀😀 THANKS TO MICO. WHAT'S MORE AMAZING IS THAT BEFORE LEAVING OUR BREAKFAST TABLE , MICO CAME BACK AND GAVE ME AND MY HUSBAND A BEAUTIFUL DECORATIVE BAG FILLED WITH MORE PACKETS OF MISO SOUP AND EVEN TWO BOXES OF JAPANESE CANDIES. WOW!!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL LADY WITH A BEAUTIFUL HEART. (WE CALL THIS, ACT OF KINDNESS) 🥰🥰🥰🥰 LEAVING THAT SAME MORNING ON THE TRAIN AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT MICO HAD DONE FOR US, BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES. FOR A TOTAL STRANGER TO DO THAT "ACT OF KINDNESS" IS SO UNBELIEVABLE. IT'S A VERY RARE EXPERIENCE TODAY. MICO, MY HUSBAND AND I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU. YOU WILL ALWAYS LIVE ON IN OUR HEARTS. The hotel exceeded my expectation. Relative to typical Japanese hotel near train station, its room size is big, Location is great, just 5-minute walk from the station. For visitors who use the Tobu Bus services to visit the far off areas, the first bus stop is just opposite the hotel! Breakfast is good. And it has onsen (indoor and outdoor) which is great after a day trip!
